Pernix designed, procured, performed all work, and commissioned the $50 million new U.S. Embassy Compound in Suva, Fiji.

The construction site is approximately 44,598 square meters, undulating and elevated.


The complex includes 5,500 square meters of buildings, perimeter walls, landscaping, parking, and site infrastructure.

This ‘Lock and Leave’ facility is comprised of the new office building (NOB), main compound access control (CAC), service CAC and service plaza, guard booths, mail screening facility, and demarcation building including interface with city utilities.
Power, water, and climate control infrastructure support the compound through extended city utility outages.

Pernix was nominated by Ambassador C. Steven McGann (U.S. Ambassador to Fiji) for the U.S. Secretary of State’s Corporate Excellence Award, where our company was commended for demonstrating leadership that promoted opportunity and prosperity, with a special emphasis on our training program.

In his nomination letter, the Ambassador acknowledged Pernix’s meaningful business benefits to the local economy through:
Providing safety training at the onset of the project resulting in working 1,000,000 man-hours without lost time accident – a first for a project in Fiji
Creation of jobs, having employed 1,000 local employees

Building confidence of the local workforce by training to international best means and methods

Adding more than $25 million to the local economy; in addition to more than $1 million in personal and corporate income taxes
Donating a schoolhouse to the local community
