The construction site is adjacent to areas designated as wildlife refuge for the endangered Marianas Fruit Bat and Marianas Crow. Coordination with proper authorities was necessary at all times during construction to ensure the safety of those species during their nesting season. All construction and designated wildlife refuge areas were cleared of any hazardous materials or other materials that would potentially harm them.
